Each student will have to write a critical and analytical argumentative essay on strategic business management and planning using contemporary concepts, theories, and models. The students will have to use their cognitive knowledge and practical case examples to develop arguments and substantiate their points of views.

The assessment criteria for this assignment comprise of:

 ·       Internal and external environment analysis with the help of relevant tools

·         Application of themes and theories related to and including the use of literature to justify strategic direction and choice

·        Evaluation of constraints and limits to a chosen strategy

·        Develop arguments and critical insight to defend or justify the decision

·       The use of between 12-16 quality academic references (Academic texts, journals, reports, etc.)

·         A professionally written assignment using APA referencing style

Students should ensure that they understand the specific research that is required for each assessment piece and recognise that if they meet this minimum requirement, they will receive the minimum grade for demonstrated learning and research ability.

Mergers and acquisition (M&A) strategies are increasing in frequency, yet at least half fail to meet financial expectations. Discuss with examples the reasons for this failure and suggest how to manage a business after merger and acquisition.
