The Effects of Air Pollution on the Environment

Pollution that is caused to the air does not come with any advantages. The quality of the air in the environment literally deteriorates because of the chemicals and other substances that are released to the atmosphere. If the quality of the air is compromised, the negative effects dawn down to the plants, innocent animals and people living in the environment.Humans, animals and plants depend on air for their survival. Thus, making the air dirty may threaten the lives of people terribly. Several attempts that are made globally to control the rising levels of air pollution have not been more effective. Air pollution is still on the rise (Scientific American, 2013).

The ozone layer in the atmosphere is a very important layer in the ecosystems. The layer must be conserved if having a good future was something to go by. With increased air pollution, depletion of this layer occurs by and by. Consequently, global warming is predominantly increased in the whole cosmos (Scientific American, 2013). The increased temperatures is responsible for heightened sea levels because it results into the melting of the glaciers. The glaciers are automatically channeled to the oceans or sea which is disastrous to the environment. The unevenness of the gases in the atmosphere is a looming factor that has to be addressed as fast as possible. Failure to control the exposure of the atmosphere to such emissions of gases may increase incidences of diseases among humans. Not much interventional strategies are employed currently to deal with this state of the atmosphere.

Air pollution indeed is the most challenging of all the forms of pollution. Most of the air pollutions are connected to the sectors that contribute greatly to the economy of the world. It is really sensitive to scrap off the sectors because people depend on them (David and Kirk, 2011). It is through the agricultural activities that insecticides, pesticides and fertilizers are released to the environment. These chemicals are harmful to the air in the atmosphere, but are indispensable on the other side to the success of the sector. The factories and industries emit a lot of exhaust fumes to the environment. Again, the refineries are important as far as the global economy is concerned. It is thus difficult to deal with the menace.

The effects of air pollution extend to other forms of pollution, for instance, water pollution. The excess amount of nitrogen that dissolve through acid rain gets into the surface of the sea, lakes or even ponds. This explains why there are colored algae growing in the water surfaces. The chemicals stimulate the growth of the algae. The existence of fish in such conditions is also compromised, leading to a deterioration of the economy in some way (David and Kirk, 2011).

In conclusion, future researches need to be concentrated on dealing with man-made sources of pollution rather than the natural causes. Striking a balance between the contributions of various sectors of the economy and the harmful gases that are released into the atmosphere is a great challenge. Researchers should come up with solutions in that regard that are within man’s reach. If care is not taken, the benefits from these sectors are short lived. This is because the wellbeing of the living creatures that are pivotal to the running of these sectors is negatively impacted. More efficient energy devices need to be researched upon that will help to conserve the energy, and at the same time pollution reduced.
