Portfolio Reflection and Digication Portfolio

Directions:
 Make sure to publish all changes to the portfolio.
 Copy and paste the URL of the Welcome page of your portfolio into the assignment on Blackboard. This is how I
will access it to assign points to it.
Portfolio Reflection (worth 1.5 points of your Digication Portfolio points)
Include a response to the following in your minimum 250-word discussion, in the order listed:
 Double space, indented paragraphs
 Include the following at the top of the page (APA format is not required for this): Your Name/Professor
/ENG 108 /Date (0.5 point)
 Title: Reflection.
 Paragraph 1: Briefly discuss each of the projects over the semester. What problems did you face in writing and
revising them, and which problems do you feel like you overcame? What problems/challenges do you feel like
you still face with your writing, after this semester? (1.0 point)
 Paragraph 2: Which project do you feel like is your best work and why? Give examples from the project to
support your points.
 Use first person (“I”) point of view in your discussion, since this is about your writing; you may also address me
as your instructor in second person (“you”) point of view.
 Edit and run spell check before posting.
 Post to your Digication Portfolio, in the Portfolio Reflection section.

o in the box Short description or call-out about your project, include following title: Project 1,
Definition/Analysis
o Copy and paste (or re-type) the following description into the reflection section at the top of the page:
“Using class writing activities and journals as a starting place, draft an essay about a group in which you are a member. How does the group define itself? What is your relationship/how do you fit into it?
How would you compare/contrast your experience with that of other people who are members? How is your experience similar/different from theirs? How might outsiders see the group and what might be more or less accurate about their point of view? Use personal knowledge and article research to argue for a more complex, nuanced definition of the group. Document sources and format the project using APA style.”
 Final Draft, Project Two (1 point)

o In the box Short description or call-out about your project, include following title: Project 2, Responding to an Argument
o Copy and paste (or re-type) the following description into the reflection section at the top of the page:
“Research and find a recently published editorial/opinion essay about an issue related to your major/field of study. The issue should be relative to your major/field of study, so that you have some authority to write about it/respond to its argument. Summarize and analyze the argument using the
four elements of argument, Rogerian strategies, and uncovering warrants (each of these key elements will be discussed and practiced in class). Develop an argument agreeing or disagreeing in part or in whole with the original argument, using questions to define and revise your thesis from vague to more specific and focused. Document sources and format the project using APA style.”

Project 3, Evaluating a Source


o Copy and paste (or re-type) the following description into the reflection section at the top of the page:
“Research and find a recently published academic journal article (from Opposing Viewpoints), about the same topic you researched for Project 2. The academic journal article should be at least 1200
words in length and published recently (preferably within the last five years). Now that you have participated in a written conversation about this topic when writing Project 2, you will determine
what this particular source says about the topic and how useful the source is to understanding some aspect of the topic.”
