CRITICAL THINKING QUESTIONS FOR EMPIRICAL STUDIES
- Evaluating Credibility
- What journal was this study published in? Is it peer reviewed?
- What institution do the authors come from?
- What year did the study get published? What is the study topic? Do you consider this too outdated for the topic of study? Why?
- Introduction
- What is the question that the authors are trying to answer? That is, what is the primary question or focus of this study?
- What, if any, are the hypotheses?
- Method
- What type of design did the researchers use?
- How can the sample be improved to better represent the population?
- List the variables in this study and how they were measured?
- Results
- Were tables, graphs, charts used? If yes, were they used effectively?
- Were the statistical results presented for all main hypotheses?
- Discussion
- What was one weakness of the study? How can it be improved in a future study?
- What was one strength of the study?
Paper should be 5-6 pages, follow APA formatting (no abstract needed). 12-point font, Times New Roman, 1” margins. You must also use other outside references (not Wikipedia). Title page and References page do not count towards paper page numbering.
