Week3 Discussion1
Please select one of the three theories presented—contingency, path-goal, and leader-member exchange—that best describes the leadership style that you would want to adopt if you were to move into a leadership position at your current school district and then briefly describe why you selected this theory. Does the theory you selected differ from the actual leadership style of administrators in your school district? How does it differ? Given the circumstances of your current school district, which of the three theories do you realistically think would work best at your school district? Why? Cite from your text and lecture(s).

Week3 Discussion2
What aspects of transformational leadership, if any, do you see evident in the leadership style of your current school district? Could you characterize your immediate supervisor as being charismatic? If so, would you say that they are an overt or quiet charismatic leader? As you assess yourself, what changes or growth do you see need to be made if you were to become a true transformational leader? Finally, does your current school district utilize “teams” or “groups”? Please briefly elaborate. Cite from your text and lecture(s).

Week4 Discussion1
Using Eric Berne’s transactional analysis model, how would you characterize the majority of leader-subordinate interactions in your school district and the percentage of time that a true “fellowship”—leader & subordinates operating in the adult ego state—actually occurs? Do you agree or disagree with Carl Jung’s contention that human behavior is predictable and understandable even when working with individuals from diverse cultural, social, and ethnic backgrounds? Why?—explain. What are your thoughts about the concept of emotional intelligence? How would you respond to Mayer, Salovey, & Causo’s question of whether emotional intelligence matters? Do you think that the administrators at your current school district display emotional intelligence? Please describe. Cite from your text and lecture(s).

Week4 Discussion2
To what extent do administrators at your current school district display an awareness of a trans-cultural vision? How successful do you think that they are in dealing with persons—staff, students, and parents—from diverse cultural backgrounds? If you were to assume a leadership role at your current school district, what positive leadership attributes identified by the GLOBE project would you most want to emulate? Why? Finally, Northouse suggests that there are three different approaches to making decisions regarding moral conduct: ethical egoism, utilitarianism, and altruism. Which of these would you use to describe the conduct of leaders in your current school district? Please briefly support your response. Cite from your text and lecture(s).
