Question 1: Learning is impacted by both genetics and environment. From the perspective of your study area (Early childhood, Primary, or Secondary education) discuss how a learners’ environment may influence their brain development. As educators, what can we do to support healthy brain development? Provide specific examples such as learning materials, social/cultural factors or the physical elements of the classroom environment (minimum two examples).

Question 2: The theories of Piaget and Vygotsky differ according to the role of the learner and the teacher in the learning process. According to your study area (Early childhood, Primary, or Secondary education), compare the responsibilities of each (teacher and learner) in the classroom according to each theory. Provide specific classroom examples.

Question 3: Bullying is a problem often experienced in schools today. Drawing upon the theories of Kohlberg and Bandura, provide strategies that could be implemented within the learning environment to support moral/social development in learners and lessen the likelihood of bullying behaviour. Question 4: Discuss ways that culture may influence (in positive and negative ways) both the content and rate of a child’s learning. Be specific and provide examples according to your study area (Early childhood, Primary, or Secondary education).

Question 5: Discuss the different ways that physical activity impacts a learner’s cognitive, social and emotional development. Provide specific examples (minimum two) of strategies that may be implemented in the educational environment, both inside and outside of the classroom.
