The code of ethics’ main purpose is to strengthen and improve the provision of quality care in the healthcare sector. AHIMA Code of ethics has si major purposes, promotion of high standards of health information management practices, summarizing the code ethics and principles that show the core values of the healthcare professional, formulate a set of ethical guidelines and principles to be adopted in the decision-making process, develop a professional framework for resolving various uncertainties and professional conflicts that may arise in line of business. The code ethics has since undergone a number of evaluations resulting in a more refined code of ethics that governs the behavior and actions of health care professionals in different settings. The code of ethics’ main purpose is to serve as a guide for members to control and monitor their behavior in the provision of healthcare services.
