Analyzing a Project

Hypothesis and Aims (Overview, Hypothesis, and Specific Aims: ~3/4 or 1 page)
Develop a project hypothesis
Develop specific aims for the overall project that if achieved will confirm/refute hypothesis

Background/literature review (4 page)
Provide an overview of the topic area
Does the project address an important problem or a critical barrier to progress in the field?
Provide review of literature by others and/or other technologies related to topic and outcomes
Identify current gaps in field for related topic

Significance of proposed effort (½ page)

Innovation: Provide a summary of key innovations in your project. (1 Page)
What is new and different in the proposed effort? Development of new technology?
Applying existing technology in a new way? Etc?

Approach: Describe research design and procedures to be used to accomplish specific aims. Include how data will be collected, analyzed, and interpreted. (3 page)
• Describe any new methodology and its advantage over existing methodologies.
• Discuss the potential difficulties and limitations of the proposed procedures and alternative approaches to achieve the aims.
• Provide a tentative sequence or timetable for the project.
• Point out any procedures, situations, or materials that may be hazardous to personnel and precautions to be exercised.
• If approach requires human subjects or animals, explain how many subjects, what are procedures to be carried out, explain any risks/dangers and how will subjects be protected.

Literature review: You should seek to review 15-25 sources for this proposed effort, most should be peer – reviewed publications (not Internet websites or trade journals). Concept paper should not exceed 4 pages single spaced 11 pt font

Edit the 4 pages that were writing before (Hypothesis, Background, Significance) about the same topic. Please make sure that you edit all the teacher comment from all the pages. Make sure that you have 3/4 of Hypothesis and Aims (Overview, Hypothesis, and Specific Aims, Background/literature review (5 page), Significance of proposed effort (½ page), Innovation: Provide a summary of key innovations in your project. (1 Page), Approach: Describe research design and procedures to be used to accomplish specific aims. Include how data will be collected, analyzed, and interpreted. (5 page)
